About Us
Centre for Community Empowerment in Conflict and Peacebuilding is a Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to supporting local people to stop conflicts, elections and other related violence and build lasting peace in all fragile localities and environment. The Centre addresses issues of cultural and structural violence in communities, where contexts include inter-tribal, inter-ethnic, inter-religious violence; gender inequality; exclusion of minorities (IDPs, refugees, people with a disability); post-conflict trauma response; and reconciliation and reintegration. Additionally, our approach integrates conflict sensitivity and the full participation and empowerment of girls and women (in implementation of UNSCR1325).
Centre for Community Empowerment in Conflict and Peace Building was integrated as a corporate body (CAC/IT/NO137935) with the Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on the 25th October 2019. Prior to this incorporation, however, the organization has engaged in several local peacebuilding initiatives. The organization is also compliant with the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2007. The Organization reports to SCUML, any transaction that is above One thousand dollars, detailing the payee, purpose and the other KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements. This is done on a weekly or monthly basis depending on the volume of transactions and to ensure appropriate compliance with anti-money laundering laws.
Our programme monitoring and evaluations show evidence of increased volunteerism, youth engagement, responsible citizenship, and empowerment of girls and women, as well as greater self-sufficiency and capacity, increased social capital networks, reductions in violence, breaking of stereotypes, and greater tolerance, trust, and understanding.
